On May 9, 2005, at approximately 4:18 p.m. Detective LaVern Brann made his final radio call. Detective Brann was killed in the line of duty while investigating a homicide. He was our brother, a husband and a father. We will never forget his sacrifice!
 Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Battle Creek Police Officers Association (BCPOA) LaVern Brann Scholarship Fund. This fund was established to honor the memory of Detective Brann by sponsoring individuals involved in youth sports and to sponsor youth sports teams in the Battle Creek area. Those who are interested in applying for a youth sports scholarship can submit a letter to the BCPOA expressing their interest/need.
